...Scorpa pursed his lips to the ram’s horn. The third howl of God lifted the Irishmen to their feet and opened their eyes. Again their voices boomed as one great shout, resonating with the battle cry of the Donovan’s. “Faith as ‘r sword! God as ‘r shield! Ne’er yield!”
...In seven strides they met the great horde of Vikings that had defiled their land and slain their countrymen. The Vikings wildly swung the deadly two edged swords they had made infamous across the known world...

...His reaction was unsettling. Grabbing her with both hands he dug his fingers into her arms. Saying nothing he tightened his grip and stared down at her, a lewd smile slowly spread across his thin lips. Then he exploded.
He tore the small, ostrich feathered, tea hat from her head, spilling her coal black hair over her shoulders and back. Squeezing tighter he shoved her against the worn boards of the coach. She struggled to break free, but he pinned her wrists over her head and against the stagecoach.
Frank and Earl turned, intent on freeing Ila from the outlaw’s hold. Their efforts died in their tracks as two other outlaws, Edmund Brown and Huey Rodham, poked their pistols into Frank and Earl’s backs. “Don't take another step,” Huey Rodham said. Another of the gang joined them his pistol also aimed at Frank and Earl.
“You’re a f-fighter. That’s g-gonna’ make this all the b-better,” said Ila’s attacker...

EXCERPT FROM; TOO QUICK TO KILL; THE AINTRIGHT, TEXAS, SERIES
...“Oh crud,” he said, catching his reflection in the glass wall, “I don't have clothes on.” He was bare-chested, his straw cowboy hat jammed down on his head. Below that a pair of boxers covered with bright turquoise pictures of the Looney Tunes character, Roadrunner; on his feet cowboy boots with his .357 tucked in the right one.
A blonde, high-school girl staring out from behind his reflection, pointed and squealed, “He's got a gun!” Felipe and Jon quieted their laughter. He immediately raised a pair of empty hands when the glass in front of the girl shattered.
Scanning, he saw Felipe grab Naomi, and dive for the ground as Jon Luther fell backward. Several bodies were on the ground, others frantically running, looking more than like a rugby scrum than a stampede. More screams, more yelling, and breathing. His breathing. “Threat located,” he thought, his mind in a hyper-vigilant state, “black ski-mask, dark clothing, still firing. Now closer to the back entrance...
